Jordan Brand Unveils the Air Jordan 41, Ushering in a New Era for the Iconic Sneaker Line

Published

on

Jordan Brand is looking toward the future with the Air Jordan 41, officially unveiling the latest entry in one of the most iconic sneaker lines of all time.

Revealed Thursday, the Air Jordan 41 represents a significant evolution for the brand, combining a more modern design philosophy with new performance technology built around the demands of today’s basketball players. The shoe was developed using feedback from athletes at multiple levels, including Michael Jordan, Jordan Brand’s professional and collegiate players and athletes from Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball League.

Rather than leaning heavily into the retro styling that has defined many previous Air Jordan releases, the 41 takes a decidedly future-focused approach.

“The Air Jordan 41 is a statement about where Jordan Brand is headed,”

Jordan Brand President Sarah Mensah said. “It carries forward a legacy built on greatness, but it was created for the athletes, whose culture and style of play are defining the future of the game.”

One of the biggest changes comes with the shoe’s upper. Jordan Brand is introducing a nano print mesh construction designed to reduce weight while providing targeted support, containment and breathability. The Air Jordan 41 also moves away from the traditional leather associated with much of the signature line in favor of thinner textiles and performance-focused materials.

Underfoot, the 41 features a full-length Zoom Strobel, a ZoomX midsole and an Air Zoom unit in the heel. The additional heel cushioning was influenced by Jordan himself and his emphasis on defense and remaining ready to move forward at any moment.

A carbon fiber and TPU shank provides additional stability, while a full-length HART rubber herringbone traction pattern is designed to help players make quick changes of direction.

Jordan Brand athletes Napheesa Collier, Paolo Banchero and Stephon Castle were among the players involved in showcasing the performance philosophy behind the new model.

The Air Jordan 41 will also introduce a series of gemstone-inspired colorways tied to different parts of Jordan’s career and personal history. The initial Ruby colorway references Jordan’s championship three-peats with the Chicago Bulls, while an upcoming Amethyst edition is inspired by his birthstone. An Opal colorway will pay tribute to his college career at North Carolina.

The Air Jordan 41 will receive a limited release in China on August 28, with a global launch set to follow. Jordan Brand has not yet announced a specific date for the worldwide release.

With the Air Jordan 41, Jordan Brand appears ready to push its flagship basketball line beyond nostalgia, while maintaining the performance-driven philosophy that has been at the center of the franchise since Michael Jordan first stepped onto an NBA court.

Mike Ditka, Chicago Bears Legend and Hall of Famer, Dies at 86

Published

Mike Ditka, the legendary Chicago Bears player and coach who became one of the most recognizable figures in NFL history, has died. He was 86.

Ditka’s family announced his passing on Friday, October 9. A cause of death has not been announced.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Mike Ditka,” his family said in a statement. “While the world knew Mike as a Hall of Fame football player, legendary coach, and leader of the Chicago Bears’ Super Bowl XX championship team, we knew him as the heart of our family.”

The family added, “Mike will be missed beyond measure and remembered forever.”

Known throughout his career as “Iron Mike” and later simply “Da Coach,” Ditka built a legacy in Chicago that spanned generations.

The Bears selected Ditka with the fifth overall pick in the 1961 NFL Draft. The tight end immediately established himself as one of the league’s brightest young stars, recording 1,076 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns during his rookie season and earning NFL Rookie of the Year honors.

Ditka spent six seasons with Chicago before playing for the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys. He won an NFL championship with the Bears in 1963 and later captured Super Bowl VI as a member of the Cowboys.

His accomplishments eventually made him the first tight end ever inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, earning his place in Canton in 1988.

But for generations of football fans, Ditka will forever be associated with the 1985 Chicago Bears.

Ditka returned to Chicago as head coach in 1982 and transformed the Bears into one of the NFL’s dominant teams. The 1985 squad finished the regular season 15-1 before overwhelming the New England Patriots 46-10 in Super Bowl XX.

The championship team became a cultural phenomenon, with personalities including Walter Payton, Jim McMahon, William “The Refrigerator” Perry and Mike Singletary helping make the Bears one of the most memorable teams in NFL history.

Ditka coached the Bears for 11 seasons and led Chicago to seven playoff appearances. He later returned to coaching with the New Orleans Saints.

He also remained a familiar face to football fans long after leaving the sidelines, working as an NFL analyst and broadcaster while continuing to be closely associated with the Bears and the city of Chicago.

Following news of his death, the Bears paid tribute to one of the most important figures in franchise history.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of legendary and treasured Chicago Bear and Pro Football Hall of Famer Mike Ditka,” the organization said.

Ditka leaves behind a legacy few figures in professional football could match — an NFL champion as a player, a Super Bowl champion as an assistant coach and the head coach who delivered Chicago its only Super Bowl championship.

Michael Keaton’s Original Batman Returns Batmobile Could Fetch $7 Million at Auction

One of the most recognizable vehicles in superhero movie history is heading to auction, and it could sell for millions.

The original screen-used Batmobile from Tim Burton’s 1992 film Batman Returns, starring Michael Keaton, will be auctioned on November 23, 2026. Julien’s Auctions and Turner Classic Movies have announced that the iconic vehicle is expected to fetch between $5 million and $7 million.

This isn’t a replica or a promotional recreation. The vehicle is the Number One Hero Batmobile used during filming and has been matched to the majority of the movie’s driving sequences.

Built by legendary custom car designer Carl Casper, the Batmobile features a chassis constructed from two Chevrolet Impalas, a Chevrolet V8 engine and a three-speed automatic transmission. Measuring nearly 20 feet long, the vehicle features its signature jet-turbine-inspired front end, enormous rear fins and original glossy black finish.

Following production, the Batmobile appeared at the film’s premiere and a Warner Bros. backlot celebration before spending years in storage. It was later displayed at the Marconi Automotive Museum in California.

The upcoming sale could also establish a new auction record for a Batmobile. In 2013, the original vehicle created by George Barris for the 1966 Batman television series sold for approximately $4.62 million.

The vehicle will headline The Ultimate Batmobile Auction, which will also feature costumes, props and other memorabilia celebrating Batman’s history across film and television.

The auction will take place in Los Angeles on November 23, with bidding available both in person and online.

After years of rumors surrounding a foldable iPhone, Apple has finally made it official.

Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo on Wednesday, marking the company’s first entry into the foldable smartphone market and one of the biggest changes to the iPhone lineup in years.

The new device starts at $1,999 for the 256GB model and features a book-style folding design. When closed, the Duo has a 5.4-inch outer display. Opening the device reveals a 7.6-inch inner display, which Apple says is the largest display ever offered on an iPhone.

Apple CEO John Ternus called the Duo the company’s biggest transformation of the iPhone since the original:

“iPhone Duo is the most transformational change to iPhone since the original.”

The Duo is powered by Apple’s new A20 Pro chip and features a titanium construction, dual-battery architecture and software specifically designed to take advantage of the larger folding display. Users can multitask across apps on the expanded screen, while the folding design also introduces new options for photography, video calls and content viewing.

Apple has also equipped the Duo with two 48-megapixel rear cameras, while both displays support ProMotion. The device runs iOS 27, which has been redesigned in several areas to accommodate the foldable form factor.

Despite the radically different design, Apple is positioning the Duo as both an iPhone and a pocket-sized productivity device, giving users an iPad-like workspace without carrying a second device.

The iPhone Duo will be available in Star White and Night Sky, with storage options ranging from 256GB to 2TB. Preorders begin October 16, followed by its official release on October 23.

At $1,999, it will also become the most expensive entry-level iPhone Apple has ever released.
