Elden Ring Movie Officially Wraps Filming as Alex Garland’s Fantasy Epic Enters Post Production
The journey through the Lands Between has reached a major milestone.
According to a crew member who worked on the production, A24’s highly anticipated live action Elden Ring movie has officially wrapped filming after approximately six months of production. While fans still have a long wait before the film arrives in theaters on March 3, 2028, the completion of principal photography means the ambitious adaptation now moves into post production.
The news came from a now-deleted Instagram post by crew member Sean Schofield, who shared what appeared to be a thank you package from director Alex Garland and several of the film’s producers. Alongside the image, Schofield reflected on his experience working on the project.
“Dream job to end all dream jobs.”
He continued by praising everyone involved with the production.
“6 solid months of blood, sweat and tears making the coolest stuff ever, working alongside the best of the best. Can’t share anything else for a very long time, but I couldn’t be more proud of what we did.”
Although plot details remain tightly guarded, the adaptation is shaping up to be one of the biggest projects in A24’s history. The film stars Kit Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Ben Whishaw, Nick Offerman, Tom Burke, Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Emma Laird, Peter Serafinowicz, and Jonathan Pryce, bringing together an impressive ensemble to explore the dark fantasy world created by Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R. R. Martin.

Elden Ring
One reason fans have remained optimistic about the adaptation is Garland himself. Long before production began, the filmmaker made it clear that he wasn’t simply taking on another blockbuster. He’s an actual Elden Ring player who has spent hundreds of hours in the Lands Between.
During an AMA, Garland admitted:
“I’m on ng+6 currently. Don’t even want to think about the hours I’ve clocked up. Can’t seem to stop playing.”
He later doubled down on his love for the game during an appearance on IGN Unfiltered, revealing that he was already on his seventh playthrough and joking that he always gravitates toward a dexterity, magic, and parry build.
That level of familiarity has given many fans confidence that Garland understands what makes Elden Ring so special. Rather than simply recreating the game’s monsters and action sequences, many are hoping he’ll capture its haunting atmosphere, mysterious storytelling, and sense of discovery.

Even George R. R. Martin, who helped create the mythology behind the game, has expressed confidence in the adaptation. Speaking about the project after it was announced, Martin praised both the studio and its director.
“A24 is a kickass studio, and Alex Garland is a first rate director.”
With filming now complete, the movie enters what will likely be an extensive post production process as visual effects artists begin bringing the Lands Between to life. A24 has yet to release any official images or footage from the film, but with cameras no longer rolling, fans may finally be getting closer to their first look.
Video game adaptations have enjoyed a remarkable resurgence over the past few years thanks to projects like The Last of Us, Fallout, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Elden Ring presents a different challenge entirely, asking filmmakers to translate one of gaming’s most mysterious and lore-rich worlds into a cinematic experience.
If Garland can successfully capture the atmosphere and scale that made the original game a masterpiece, Elden Ring has every opportunity to become one of the defining fantasy films of the decade.

Samara Weaving Reportedly Joins The Legend of Zelda Movie
Samara Weaving may be adding another major franchise to her growing resume, as the actress has reportedly joined the cast of the upcoming live action The Legend of Zelda movie.
According to a new report, Weaving has already filmed her role in the highly anticipated adaptation, which completed principal photography in New Zealand earlier this year. While details surrounding her character remain officially under wraps, reports have suggested that Weaving could be playing Hylia, the goddess who holds an important place within The Legend of Zelda mythology.
For now, that particular piece of casting should be treated as a rumor. Neither Nintendo nor Sony Pictures has officially confirmed Weaving’s involvement or revealed who she may be playing.
If confirmed, Weaving would join a growing ensemble led by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda. Recent reports have also connected Uli Latukefu to Ganondorf, Dichen Lachman to Impa and Yvonne Strahovski to a queen role. The late Sam Neill is also reportedly part of the cast after completing his work on the film before his death.

The potential casting comes during a particularly busy stretch for Weaving. The Ready or Not star was recently reported to have landed the role of Emma Frost in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot, giving her the possibility of appearing in two massive franchises over the next several years.
The Legend of Zelda is directed by Wes Ball, best known for The Maze Runner trilogy and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The film marks Nintendo’s first attempt to bring one of its most iconic franchises to live action since the company’s recent resurgence in theatrical adaptations.
Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto is producing alongside Avi Arad, with Sony Pictures handling theatrical distribution.

The biggest question surrounding Weaving’s reported casting is whether the Hylia rumor proves accurate. Hylia is deeply connected to the mythology surrounding Zelda, Link and the recurring battle against evil throughout the games. Her inclusion could indicate that Ball’s film will lean heavily into the larger mythology of Hyrule rather than simply adapting the story of one particular game.
With filming already complete, fans should begin getting a much clearer picture of Nintendo and Sony’s vision for Hyrule as the movie moves closer to release.
The Legend of Zelda is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters in 2027.

The featurette also gives fans several new looks at Blanka in action, showcasing his massive physique, signature green appearance, wild red hair, and electric attacks. Momoa teases that the character “drains people” while embracing the feral, unpredictable energy that has made Blanka one of the franchise’s most recognizable fighters.

Call of Duty Movie Will Be Set in the Modern Warfare Universe
The long-awaited Call of Duty movie has finally revealed which corner of the blockbuster video game franchise it will adapt, and it appears Activision and Paramount are aiming for one of the series’ most iconic storylines.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming live-action film will take place within the Modern Warfare universe rather than the futuristic Black Ops timeline or the franchise’s World War II roots. The decision gives filmmakers access to some of the series’ most recognizable characters and conflicts, including fan-favorites like Captain John Price, Soap MacTavish, Ghost, and Task Force 141.
Director Peter Berg (Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon) is attached to helm the adaptation, while Taylor Sheridan(Sicario, Yellowstone, Hell or High Water) is co-writing the screenplay. The pair are also producing the film, bringing together two filmmakers with extensive experience crafting grounded military action.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare
While story details remain under wraps, reports indicate the film won’t simply recreate the events of a specific game. Instead, it is expected to tell an original story inspired by the tone, characters, and military realism that have made the Modern Warfare subseries one of gaming’s most successful franchises.
The Call of Duty franchise has sold more than 500 million copies worldwide, making it one of the highest-selling video game series of all time. After years of failed attempts to bring the property to the big screen, this latest adaptation marks Activision’s biggest cinematic push yet.
The movie is currently scheduled to hit theaters on June 30, 2028, joining a growing wave of successful video game adaptations following projects like The Last of Us, Fallout, and A Minecraft Movie.
