News:
Johnny Depp is making his long-awaited return to major studio filmmaking with Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, a dark new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ timeless holiday classic. Paramount Pictures has released the film’s first trailer, offering audiences a haunting look at Depp’s transformation into Ebenezer Scrooge under the direction of horror filmmaker Ti West.
Rather than presenting another traditional Christmas tale, Ebenezer leans heavily into gothic horror. The trailer showcases eerie spirits, unsettling Victorian imagery, and a far darker atmosphere than most previous adaptations of A Christmas Carol. Depp delivers Scrooge’s signature bitterness with an ominous edge before the supernatural events begin to unravel his life.
The film features an impressive supporting cast, including Andrea Riseborough as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Tramell Tillman as the Ghost of Christmas Present, Ian McKellen as Jacob Marley, Rupert Grint as Bob Cratchit, Sam Claflinas Fred, Daisy Ridley, Charlie Murphy, Arthur Conti, and Ellie Bamber.

The trailer arrives just after Depp surprised fans at San Diego Comic-Con by appearing completely in character as Scrooge, remaining in costume and interacting with attendees during the promotional event. The appearance quickly became one of the convention’s most talked-about moments and helped launch the film’s marketing campaign.
For Depp, Ebenezer represents a significant milestone, marking his return to a major Hollywood studio production after several years away from blockbuster filmmaking. Combined with Ti West’s signature horror style, the project is shaping up to be one of the most unique adaptations of Charles Dickens’ classic story in decades.

Warner Bros. Water Tower Officially Adds ‘A Skydance Corporation’ Following Merger
One of the most recognizable landmarks in Hollywood has already been updated following the massive merger that brought Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount together under Skydance.
The iconic Warner Bros. water tower at the studio’s Burbank lot now features the words “A Skydance Corporation” underneath the classic Warner Bros. logo, marking one of the first major visual changes following the completion of the deal.
The change came quickly. The merger officially closed Tuesday, October 6, and workers were already updating the Warner Bros. tower the same day.
The newly combined company will operate under the Skydance name, with David Ellison serving as chairman and CEO. The merger brings Warner Bros., Paramount and a massive collection of entertainment brands under the same corporate umbrella.
Warner Bros. will retain its historic studio identity, which is reflected on the updated tower. Rather than replacing the Warner Bros. name or logo, “A Skydance Corporation” has simply been added beneath it.

It also creates a direct visual connection between two of Hollywood’s most famous studio lots. Following Skydance Media’s takeover of Paramount Global in 2025, the Paramount Pictures water tower was similarly updated with “A Skydance Corporation.”
Now both Paramount and Warner Bros. carry the Skydance designation.
The newly formed Skydance includes Warner Bros. Pictures, Paramount Pictures, DC Studios, HBO, CBS, CNN and numerous other television and cable properties. Its streaming portfolio includes HBO Max and Paramount+, while its collection of franchises stretches from DC and Harry Potter to Game of Thrones, Top Gun, Mission: Impossible and Transformers.
Skydance officially described the combination as the creation of a new global entertainment company built around both creativity and technology.
While the long-term impact of the merger will take years to fully unfold, the change to the Warner Bros. water tower provides an immediate and highly visible symbol of Hollywood’s new landscape.
For generations, the Warner Bros. water tower has represented one of the industry’s most storied studios. The Warner Bros. shield is still there, but it now comes with four words signaling the beginning of a new era:
“A Skydance Corporation.”

Bradley Cooper Will Play Duke in Danny McBride’s New G.I. Joe Movie
Cooper is set to star as Duke in Paramount’s upcoming G.I. Joe movie, which will be directed by Danny McBride. The new film is expected to serve as a fresh reimagining of the franchise rather than continue the previous live-action movies.
McBride will make his feature directorial debut on the project and co-wrote the screenplay with Jeff Fradley and John Carcieri.
Cooper reportedly emerged as McBride’s top choice for Duke, with the actor coming aboard after reading the screenplay and meeting with McBride about the project.
Despite McBride’s comedy background with projects including Eastbound & Down and The Righteous Gemstones, his G.I. Joe movie won’t be a comedy. McBride has previously described his approach as a more grounded combination of action and suspense.

Duke G.I. Joe
The story will follow Duke and a group of Joes into Springfield, a seemingly ordinary town that is secretly controlled by Cobra. The location has deep roots in G.I. Joe comics and could give the reboot a much different feel from the franchise’s previous globe-spanning movies.
Cooper becomes the latest actor to take on Duke in live action. Channing Tatum previously played the character in 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and returned for 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
The new movie will also move forward independently from the previously planned Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover. That project, which was teased at the end of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, is no longer in development.
Cooper and McBride have worked together before, most recently when Cooper appeared in the final season of HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones.
Additional casting has not yet been announced, and Paramount has not set a release date for the new G.I. Joe movie.

Brad Pitt Officially Returning for World War Z Sequel With Edward Berger Directing
After more than a decade of false starts, World War Z is finally coming back to life.
Brad Pitt is officially set to return for Paramount Pictures’ long-awaited sequel to the 2013 zombie blockbuster, with Conclave and All Quiet on the Western Front filmmaker Edward Berger attached to direct.
Pitt will once again star in the sequel while also producing through Plan B Entertainment alongside Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner. Berger will additionally serve as an executive producer, with Dennis Kelly writing the screenplay.
Plot details are currently being kept under wraps.
The sequel has endured a lengthy journey to the screen. Paramount has attempted to develop another World War Z film for years, with several filmmakers previously connected to the project.
Most notably, David Fincher was once attached to direct, potentially reuniting with Pitt following their collaborations on Se7en, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. That version ultimately fell apart in 2019.

The latest incarnation now appears to have considerably more momentum, with deals in place for both Pitt and Berger.
The pair already have an established working relationship after recently collaborating on A24’s upcoming film The Riders, which is currently in post-production.
Released in 2013 and directed by Marc Forster, World War Z starred Pitt as Gerry Lane, a former United Nations investigator attempting to find a way to stop a rapidly spreading zombie pandemic.
Based on Max Brooks’ 2006 novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, the movie became a major commercial success, earning more than $540 million at the worldwide box office.
More than 13 years later, Pitt is now preparing to return to the zombie apocalypse.
Paramount has not yet announced a release date for the World War Z sequel.
