Blade Runner 2099 Trailer Reveals a Dark New Future for the Iconic Sci-Fi Franchise
Prime Video has unveiled the first official trailer for Blade Runner 2099, giving fans their first extended look at the highly anticipated television continuation of Ridley Scott’s legendary sci-fi universe. Starring Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer, the series arrives this November and promises to expand the franchise with a new mystery set decades after the events of Blade Runner 2049.
Set 50 years after Denis Villeneuve’s acclaimed 2017 sequel, Blade Runner 2099 takes audiences back to Los Angeles in a world where replicants have dramatically altered the balance of power. Humanity no longer sits at the top of society, creating a fresh backdrop for a noir-inspired story filled with conspiracies, identity, and survival.
Hunter Schafer stars as Cora, a fugitive who assumes the identity of a Blade Runner in an effort to secure a future for her brother. Alongside her is Olwen, played by Michelle Yeoh, a replicant Blade Runner nearing the end of her lifespan. Together, they pursue a mysterious runaway whose secrets could reshape the fragile future of Los Angeles.

The series is created by Silka Luisa, with Ridley Scott and Michael Green serving as executive producers, ensuring the new chapter remains deeply connected to the films that inspired it. Visually, the trailer embraces the franchise’s signature neon-soaked atmosphere while introducing a brighter yet equally unsettling version of the dystopian future.
After years of anticipation, Blade Runner 2099 looks poised to deliver another thought-provoking entry in one of science fiction’s most influential franchises when all eight episodes premiere exclusively on Prime Video this November.

‘Spider-Noir’ Canceled After One Season at Prime Video
Prime Video’s Spider-Noir will not be returning for a second season.
The live-action Marvel series starring Nicolas Cage has been canceled after one season, bringing an early end to one of Sony’s more unusual attempts to expand its Spider-Man universe on television.
Spider-Noir debuted earlier this year, with Cage starring as Ben Reilly, an aging private investigator living in 1930s New York who is forced to confront his past as the city’s masked superhero known as The Spider.
The eight-episode series premiered on MGM+ before arriving globally on Prime Video on May 27. One of the show’s biggest creative hooks was giving viewers the option to watch the entire series in either black and white or full color.
Despite its short run, Spider-Noir was well received by critics and audiences. The series currently holds a 92% critics score and 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The cancellation also comes as Sony continues to reassess its larger collection of Marvel projects based on characters connected to Spider-Man. The studio’s recent live-action efforts have struggled to build the kind of interconnected franchise once envisioned around films such as Morbius, Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter.
Cage’s involvement made Spider-Noir particularly notable. The actor previously voiced Spider-Man Noir in 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse before making the jump to live action for the Prime Video series.
The cast also included Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson, Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston and Brendan Gleeson.
The series was developed by Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, with Spider-Verse filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller among its executive producers alongside Amy Pascal and Cage.
While Spider-Noir will end after a single season, all eight episodes remain available to stream on Prime Video.

Dan Stevens Will Star as RoboCop in Prime Video’s New Series
Prime Video has found its new RoboCop.
Dan Stevens has been cast as Alex Murphy/RoboCop in Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming live-action RoboCop television series, taking on one of science fiction’s most recognizable roles. The casting comes just over a month after Prime Video officially gave the project an eight-episode series order.
Stevens has built an increasingly diverse résumé in recent years, with credits including The Guest, Downton Abbey, Beauty and the Beast, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Cuckoo and Netflix’s Zero Day. Now, he’ll step into a role most famously played by Peter Weller in Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 original.
The new series will retain the central premise of the RoboCop franchise. According to the official logline, a massive technology conglomerate convinces a city to add a powerful robot to its police force, with the machine implanted with the consciousness of a beloved officer who was killed in the line of duty.
Peter Ocko, whose credits include Lodge 49 and Black Sails, will serve as writer, showrunner and executive producer. James Wan, Michael Clear and Rob Hackett will executive produce through Blumhouse Atomic Monster, with Danielle Bozzone serving as co-executive producer.
The series will also have some important connections to the original film. RoboCop co-creators and co-writers Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner are aboard as executive producers.

Wan previously spoke about his excitement for the project and the opportunity to revisit themes that helped make the original film so enduring, including technology, identity and corporate power. The producer said the team intends to honor what made Verhoeven’s film iconic while creating something new for a modern audience.
The original RoboCop hit theaters in 1987 and became a sci-fi classic, blending graphic action with sharp satire of corporate greed, privatization and consumer culture. Weller returned for RoboCop 2 in 1990 before Robert Burke took over the role in 1993’s RoboCop 3. The franchise was later rebooted on the big screen in 2014 with Joel Kinnaman as Murphy.
The franchise has continued beyond the movies through television, comics and video games, most recently finding success in gaming with RoboCop: Rogue City.
Prime Video has not yet announced a premiere date for the new RoboCop series.
