The fresh, moving and fun documentary will be in Cinemas Nationwide and an Amazon Original on Prime Video only for the Platinum Jubilee on 3rd June.

Elizabeth: A Portrait in Parts is a truly cinematic mystery tour that ventures up and down the playful, poetic and funny decades of Her Majesty.

Elizabeth: A Portrait in Parts is a unique and inventive feature documentary about the life of Queen Elizabeth II. Directed by the late, great and much celebrated Roger Michell (Notting Hill, The Duke) and produced by prolific British producer Kevin Loader (Nowhere Boy, The Lady in the Van), Elizabeth: A Portrait in Parts is a nostalgic, uplifting and fresh modern chronicle of the extraordinary 70-year reign of Her Majesty the Queen, the longest-lived, longest-reigning British monarch and longest-serving female head of state in history.

There’s hardly anyone on the planet who hasn’t grown up with her face, her presence, her image constantly around them on coins, stamps, and banknotes.

Director Roger and producer Kevin Loader assembled a team of top-notch archive researchers/producers with the experience of the hundreds of hours of footage of the British royal family showcasing intimate moments.

“I want to change the way that women birth.” “How does that vomit-inducing idealism translate into $$?”.

Today, Prime Video released the official trailer for the highly anticipated psychological thriller Dead Ringers. A modern take on David Cronenberg’s 1988 classic film, Dead Ringers is a limited series starring Rachel Weisz playing the double-lead role of Elliot and Beverly Mantle, twins who share everything: drugs, lovers, and an unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes—including pushing the boundaries on medical ethics—in an effort to challenge antiquated practices and bring women’s health care to the forefront. All six episodes premiere on the 21st of April exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Rachel Weisz also serves as an executive producer for the limited series, which is created, written, and executive produced by Emmy-nominated writer and playwright Alice Birch (Normal PeopleSuccessionThe Wonder). The series’ ensemble cast includes Britne Oldford (The Umbrella AcademyAmerican Horror Story: Asylum) as Genevieve, Poppy Liu (HacksBetter Call Saul) as Greta, Michael Chernus (SeveranceOrange Is the New Black) as Tom, Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark ThirtySaint Maud) as Rebecca, and Emily Meade (The DeuceThe Leftovers) as Susan.

This looks wild and bold and devious! The two Weisz’s are tantalizing fun, but the deeper goals behind what they’re doing and how they’re trying to flip things over looks genius.

The psychosexual thriller premieres exclusively on Prime Video on the 21st of April. Here’s the main official trailer (+ official key art) stay tuned to the site for our coverage

Henry Cavill to Headline ‘Warhammer 40K’ Series on Amazon Prime Video

Published

on

With much of the talk surrounding Henry Cavill regarding his exit from Netflix’s The Witcher along with the shift of mentality from new DC Studios leadership, the actor is in need of a new franchise to jumpstart. It appears that Cavill has done just that with the latest news that comes from The Hot Mic podcast via Above the Line.

It appears that Cavill (Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice) will steer head an adaptation of Warhammer 40,000 for Amazon Prime Video. Cavill confirmed the news this morning via his Instagram. The property started as a miniature war game akin to Dungeons & Dragons where players control different characters across a battle board, so to speak. The game was a staple in England where Cavill played it much as a kid and his passion for the property has stuck ever since. So much so, that the actor still paints figures to this day for when he engages in play.

The property which is often abbreviated to Warhammer 40K, features a fictional war set 40,000 years into the future between humans and other mystical beings that include orcs, gods, demons, elves, aliens and supernatural entities. The game eventually was brought to the video game space where it amasses tons of players across the sci-fi fantasy gaming landscape. The property also lends itself to novels leaving a lot of room to grow as a franchise in the entertainment space with lore to play with.

Amazon continues to take steps towards building out large franchise plays for their streaming service, Prime Video. In addition to the acquisition of the rights to Warhammer 40,000, the streamer has recently made deals for video game properties like God of War, with creators like Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House) and of course, a 2022 that was massive for the streamer with the launches of the pricey Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Thursday Night Football. As they look to compete with Netflix, Disney+ and other streaming services, it’s a clear shift from Amazon to take some bigger risks for bigger rewards.

Cavill was most recently seen reprising his role as Sherlock Holmes in Netflix’s Enola Holmes 2 starring Millie Bobby Brown. In 2023, Cavill will star in Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle which aims to kickstart a new spy-based franchise similar to Mission: Impossible which Cavill also appeared in. He will star in Argylle alongside an all-star cast that includes Catherine O’Hara, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Samuel L. Jackson, John Cena, Ariana DeBose and Dua Lipa.

Amazon Prime Video Sets Another Video Game Adaptation with ‘God of War’

Published

on

In the hunt for IP and the mining for content across all media, Amazon Prime Video is seizing the moment as they set a series in the world of video games. According to VarietyGod of War will be getting a television adaptation on the Prime Video streaming platform.

God of War just recently released its latest game in the franchise, God of War: Ragnarok which has done tremendous sales for PlayStation so it’s as good as any for Amazon to get involved in this project. Rafe Judkins, who acts as Showrunner for Amazon’s pricey fantasy series, The Wheel of Time will be showrunning God of War as Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Iron Man, Children of Men) will write the show.

The popular video game series, God of War debuted in 2005 following Kratos, the titular God of War, who amongst bloodshed in ancient Greece hangs up his weaponry to sail away to Norse realm of Midgard. After seeing Ares terrorize his family and friends, Kratos aims to do right by his wife by sailing away with their son leading to a conquest of battle, emotion and brutality. The series is ripe for an adaptation across film or television with Amazon leading the charge to bring the iconic PlayStation character to screen.

In regard to the series, Katherine Pope, the president of Sony Pictures Television Studios said, “We are so proud and excited to be working with our friends at Amazon Studios and our partners at PlayStation Productions to adapt this beautiful and heartbreaking game into a premium live-action series. Rafe, Mark and Hawk are crafting a transportive series that charts a path through the ancient mythological journey of Kratos.”

God of War is far from the only video game to television adaptation in the works. Also, in the works at Amazon is Fallout, which comes from Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy as well as the upcoming January release of HBO’s The Last of Us which adapts the best-selling PlayStation game. No word yet on who will play Kratos in the series, but it will for sure be a coveted role due to the richness and depth that the character has within the lore of the games.
