In case you were not invited/didn’t see social media posts from the lucky people who were, Episode VIII had its wrap party earlier this week.
That is correct – principal photography for Star Wars: Episode VIII has ended!
Cast and crew members gathered at the National History Museum in London and it looks like it was quite a party.
It’s Star Wars Celebration this weekend in London, and much of the action at the event will be livestreamed at StarWars.com and on Youtube. You can find out more about the livestream here.
The focus will no doubt revolve around Rogue One, but who knows, perhaps we will get some info on Episode VIII!
Episode VIII, written and directed by Rian Johnson, will be released December 15 2017.

I know what you’re all thinking, why didn’t I go to see this in the cinema? I didn’t, life got in the way. So, I’ve finally been able to settled down and watch it on Now TV. And what a movie!! It ties in so well with the ‘Star Wars’ franchise while still being a stand alone story. The introduction to the main character is intense, but vital to the storyline. The story is constantly driving forward, there are no slow parts, yet it perfectly tells the story. ‘Rogue One,’ has everything in it. It’ll make you laugh, cry, be sad then happy. There are plenty of “Oh no” moments, as well as “Ahh” moments. The cast of ‘Rogue One’ has chemistry and play off each other well. This movie is definitely a must watch if you haven’t seen it yet. So what are you playing at? Give it a chance, you might be pleasantly surprised. Until next time folks!!
LUCASFILM & DISNEY ANNOUNCE A NEW STAR WARS TRILOGY
Lucasfilm and Disney Pictures have announced a new Star Wars trilogy in the works. The company has entrusted Episode VIII Director Rian Johnson to helm the story. The New trilogy will not follow the Skywalker family and will take us an entirely new direction in Star Wars lore. Some have speculated we will see stories revolving around the old republic. Others believe we will see the return of Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan. A Star Wars television series is also expected to be launched by the end of 2019.
“We all loved working with Rian on ‘The Last Jedi,’” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. “He’s a creative force, and watching him craft ‘The Last Jedi’ from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career. Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy.”
Rian Johnson and his long time partner Ram Bergman reciprocated their feelings about working with Lucasfilm and Disney:
“We had the time of our lives collaborating with Lucasfilm and Disney on ‘The Last Jedi,’ ” Johnson and Bergman said in a joint statement. “ ‘Star Wars’ is the greatest modern mythology and we feel very lucky to have contributed to it. We can’t wait to continue with this new series of films.”
FROM ‘A NEW HOPE’ TO ‘THE LAST JEDI,’ STAR WARS FINALLY UNVEILS THE “CANON” REASON BEHIND THE RED SITH LIGHTSABER
It has been many years since the 1977 release of ‘Star Wars: A New Hope.’ The franchise has evolved over the decades, further beyond what I’m sure George Lucas himself had envisioned for the films. Over the years, the importance of kyber crystals has gained more and more traction in Star Wars lore, culminating with ‘Rogue One’ centering around the harvesting of kyber crystals to power the death star.
The verdict has been out on exactly how kyber crystals get their color in lightsabers. From fan theories to non-cannon animation and comics, no one has really known until now!
“The crystal from any Jedi’s saber will do. As you know, the Kyber’s are alive, in their way. Like any living thing, they can feel pain. Through the dark side, you must pour your pain into the crystal. And when, at last, the agony becomes more than it can stand…a beautiful crimson. The color of your rage.”
A recent Star Wars comic revealed the now cannon reason for the red kyber crystals in Sith lightsabers:
Pain!!! Sith pour their pain into the crystal and once the living crystal can stand no more and the agony becomes to great, the crystal becomes crimson red. The color of the users rage.
