Boyega in a recent interview with Vogue Magazine  spoke about his excitement for the direction of the Star Wars franchise and his relief in being able to speak about events that transpired in ‘The Force Awakens.’  With that being said, he also let on jokingly that the relief will be short lived with the filming of Episode VIII to begin soon and he will have to go back to being tight lipped.

In his interview, Boyega had this to say:

“Yes, at last! Han Solo dies, OK? He dies. Phew. It feels good. But now, we just starting work on Star Wars VIII, the next film, so I’m back to keeping secrets again.”

Director Rian Johnson has been attached to Star Wars for quite some time.  He has been working with Abrams and LucasFilm to make sure the threads connect smoothly between films.  Rumor has it that he’s even shot scenes as far back as September.

Daisy Ridley has had nothing but praise for the new script for Episode VIII.  According to Boyega:

“It’s great. Much darker, but we’re very excited.”

As for the future of Finn, here’s what Boyega had to say:

“No, for this film we really just took it scene by scene, there wasn’t a huge regime. My part in the next film will be much more physical so I might be in the gym a bit more.”
